Before arriving at this store, I called ahead to confirm they had specific bundles in stock because another beauty supply store referred me there, and I live 30 minutes away. The man on the phone confirmed they had exactly what I needed, so I made the drive. At first, everything seemed fine. The woman at the front began helping me, although she immediately made a comment under her breath about the hair I asked for being expensive. I ignored it and continued shopping. When I asked for another item she couldn’t reach, she called a man from the back to assist me. First off, they did not even have all of the lengths I asked about over the phone and confirmed they had, and after seeing the hair in person, I realized it was nowhere near worth paying $600 for three bundles for a hairstyle I only planned to wear for a week, had no intentions of reusing and they were highly overpriced. I explained that and asked for other options. I asked about another brand they confirmed, and they only had 1 pack of the multiple they claimed to have. They then showed me their store brand, and I was interested in their deal for three bundles for around $190-$200, but my hair texture would not blend with it, so I simply asked if there were any other alternatives. At that point, I had already moved on from the expensive hair entirely. I clearly stated that I did not want it and was nowhere near that section anymore. He kept showing me hair that I told him I was not interested in and after he showed me the last option, I decided to go to the front wall and look at their hair selection again. That is when the entire atmosphere changed. While asking him for the thickest option they have from their hair brand, no longer speaking about price or anything relating to it, he cut me off to tell the woman at the front that I expected to get “3 bundles of the 1 bundle of hair for $200,” which was completely false. I had never asked for a discount or anything like that. Again, I said it wasn’t for me and asked for other options, even explaining why it wouldn’t be cost effective to buy $600 worth of hair for a week long hair style. I immediately corrected him and reminded him that I had already put the expensive hair back and clearly said I did not want it. Despite that, the comments continued. When I asked to see the store brand hair again, the woman at the front kept repeating, “No, you want 3 bundles for $200. We don’t have that,” while laughing. What could have been a simple misunderstanding quickly became embarrassing, degrading, and disrespectful. From that point on, the service became dismissive and hostile. I found myself repeatedly having to explain myself when I came into the store doing nothing more than respectfully trying to find hair that worked for me. What upset me the most was overhearing the woman at the front speaking about me to another customer and implying that I either “didn’t have the money” or “didn’t want to pay.” That was incredibly unprofessional and completely unnecessary, especially considering this was my first time ever visiting this store and I came there fully intending to spend money. I ultimately decided not to give this business my money. I wasted gas, time, and energy rushing to a store I was told was amazing, only to leave feeling judged, lied on, and humiliated simply for deciding not to purchase overpriced hair and asking for other options. No customer should ever be mocked, talked about, or made to feel degraded for asking questions, exploring alternatives, or deciding something is not worth the price.
